First of all, there are going to interview you if it is your first trip to a chiropractor.  They are going to want to find out what kind of pain you are experiencing, if any, and a little bit about your lifestyle as far as your health is concerned.  This will enable them to get to the root of what the problem is and gives them some direction to go from the very start.  After an examination takes place, they will let you know what they are going to do and give you any specifics as far as the treatments that they are going to apply.

Before an adjustment will be administered by the chiropractor they are going to warm up that area of the body in one way or another.  Some of them do this through massage therapy but others do it through the use of a machine.  The point is that they want to make sure that the area is warmed up and limber before they try to work the misalignment back into place.  They will then gently try to put it back into place and let you know if you will need any subsequent visits in order for the treatment to be complete.
